It has been a lovely, exciting week in Holly class!! Not only have we welcomed Jonathan a new member of Holly class but we have been lucky enough to go on two class trips!

On Tuesday morning we all went to the library and met Heather. She explained to the children how to use the library, where to find different types of books and other things such as audio books that they could borrow. We were then treated to two lovely stories that the children thoroughly enjoyed and took part in.Heather was very impressed with the childen's behaviour and questions and Mrs Gallon and I were very proud of everyone. All the children borrowed two books and we hope they will continue to use the libraries facilities.

On Wednesday we set off for the train station to catch the steam train to Goathland. The children were all very excited about going on the train and meeting the children at Goathland school.

When we reached Grosmont station we had a special visit from Eli's mum, who is currently training to drive the steam train and had got up very early to prepare the fire for the actual train we were on!

Our next stop was Goathland and we all wondered what we would see in the village.

As we wandered through the village on our way to the school we discussed how Goathland was different to Whitby and the children were fascinated with the sheep and the amount of poo they had produced! They commented on how green everthing was in Goathland and that there was very few shops and buildings.

Eventually we arrived at the school and were greeted by Mrs Tipple and Base 1 class. We introduced ourselves in a circle time and asked questions we had prepared earlier. The children found it hard to believe there was only 9 children in the class and only 23 in the whole school! Base 1 class explained to our children that they had no school hall and ate their lunch in the classroom and did gymnastics in the village hall where there was more space.

We then ate our lunch and were lucky enough to avoid the thunder storm sharing wet playtime activities with our new friends.

After the rain had stopped and the sun came out we said goodbye and thank you to Mrs Tipple and Base 1 and headed into the village once more to explore and buy an ice cream. We saw the village hall where the children did P.E , a police car from the TV series 'Heart beat' and lots  more sheep and fields!

Finally we made our way tired but happy to the car park to meet the mini bus.We all had a fantastic day and it was a pleasure to take out such polite and well behaved children. They were a credit to you all!!
