Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

Firstly, thank you for your understanding and support regarding the closure of school today. It has not been the start to the calendar year we were hoping for – and it has certainly made for an interesting first day in charge of Stakesby!

We have planned at length to ensure that your child’s learning continues successfully online, where they will be able to access our full, ambitious curriculum.

From tomorrow (Wednesday 6th January) learning will commence on Microsoft Teams from 9am and will last the full school day. Your child’s class teacher will provide a weekly timetable from Monday so you are aware of which sessions are live, pre-recorded and require independent task completion.

Your child’s teacher will be available to contact via Teams from 8:30am until 4pm other than on Wednesday afternoon which is their release time.

Key Worker / Vulnerable children attending school:

The session will begin at 8:45am, with learning commencing at 9am. Children in Early Years should use their usual gate to access the Early Years building where their bubble will be situated.

Children in Holly and Beech Classes should use the main pedestrian gate leading from Byland Road.

Children in Hazel, Elm and Oak Classes should use the bottom gate on Byland Road.

The day ends for all pupils at 3:15pm.

Please ensure your child comes to school with the following:

  • Full uniform
  • Hair (longer than shoulder length) tied back
  • Bag or Book Bag
  • Waterbottle
  • Snack (if they are not having one from school)

If your child has their own set of headphones and you are happy for them to come to school to be used by your child only, please also send them.

School meals will operate as normal. Your child is welcome to bring a packed lunch if you would prefer.

Children learning from home:

All children are expected to be online, ready to begin the school day at 9am. Our curriculum offer is that which children would receive in school and requires all children to participate. Books for your child to record their work in will be available from the school foyer from 8:30am tomorrow morning and will be free to take throughout this period of online learning.

The standard of work we help children to achieve in school is extremely high. We will be coaching them online to ensure this remains the same and children take pride in their work. Please support us at home by encouraging use of the correct equipment such as pencils for sketching and colouring, rulers to draw lines and pens for those children who would usually use them at school.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need any further stationery supplies.

Celebration Assembly:

Our Friday Celebration Assembly will take place as usual at 2:45pm on Miss Robson’s Team. Please ensure that you join this with your microphone muted so that everyone can hear who has won the certificate for each class – and for what reason. This will be a great chance for us to get together as a school and celebrate the achievements of those learning at home and at school.

How to get in contact:

Our general points of contact with you will continue to be via our Facebook page, email and Class Dojo. The school office can be contacted by email (admin@stakesbyschool.net) and telephone (01947 820231) Please do not forget that you can also contact your class teacher directly through their email address on Microsoft Teams, or through Class Dojos.

I will continue to keep in regular contact with you throughout this period of closure, keeping you informed of any developments as they occur.

Keep safe, and hopefully we will see you in person again soon.

Kind regards,

Emma Robson

Principal
